Old english sheepdog is not a popular breed in Finland and there are
only few active kennels who breed and show bobtails. Reg.number is
usually less than 40/year (2009 / 25 pups / 7 litters). The Finnish
Kennel Club (Suomen Kennelliitto - Finska Kennelklubben ry.) is an
organisation of Finnish dog owners and all old english sheepdog breeders
tends to registerate their puppies into FKC/FCI. ( The Finnish Kennel
Club is member of the Nordic Kennel Union and Fédération Cynologique
Internationale.)
Every dog who has been used in breeding have to have hips between
A-C; lower than C are not allowed to use/reg. Eyes must be clear of
hederitary decease (HC, PRA) and elbows must be checked even the resultants
doesn´t matter for reg.

As the genepole is quite narrow in our breed, many of breeders have exported new bloodlines from outbroads - puppies and studdogs.
